The Ultimate Collection of Professional Free Fonts
As designers we're always looking for new fonts to integrate into our designs. Adding new fonts to your library can often help inspire you, giving a fresh feel to your designs. Unfortunately it can be really hard to locate quality free fonts amidst the thousands of mediocre ones.
Luckily we've compiled a comprehensive list of professional free fonts to enhance your designs. We've left out all the 'filler' fonts you find in a lot of roundups, so that every font below is really high quality and applicable.
The Fonts
Jura
Nevis
Maven Pro
Indeed a great roundup. Can these all be used freely with @font-face? i know some of them we can, but the other cool ones, I don’t see at Font Squirrel or the likes.
Agreed…..On all points!
Filmotype Horizon is beautiful, just what I was lookin for. But … it’s not free! It costs 29$. Anyway, thank you for the inspiring collection.
deja rip isn’t free also
There are many fonts on this list that are not free! Did you actually look before posting this?
Good list but Colaborate is awful. I tried to use it on a site recently and the lowercase ‘t’ just makes me so angry. I know that’s a pretty irrational statement to make regarding a font but it does.
The League of Moveable Type has some great font.
Yea man, the t…it definitely has some problems huh?
Code Pro is also not free.
Filmotype Horizon
St Ryde
FF Sero …
all not free. Do your research before posting

Appreciate the comments, everyone. As for those saying the fonts aren’t free, all of the fonts have free versions available through the links Tom provided, with the exception of the FilmoType Horizon font and Tom was sure it was free when the post was submitted (it seems to have been reduced to just one paid version of the font for some reason).
So sorry about the confusion.

Thanks for helping to clear that up Rob. I just wanted to add that MyFonts.com often offer premium fonts, with one version of the font for $0 (as a kind of trial). If you look at the price area on the pages I linked to it should say something like ’14 buying options, from $0′. If you then go to the buying page simply scan down to the $0 version of the font. For example: http://new.myfonts.com/fonts/stereotypes/st-ryde/buy.html. I thought it was right to still include these fonts even if they only have one free version, as they’re such high quality.
Feel free to let me know if you guys have any further issues and I’ll be quick to reply, but as Rob says FilmoType Horizon should be the only font that isn’t free (and it was when I wrote the article).
Great bunch…but Filmotype isn’t free…even if it was when you wrote the article. Bummer to get all excited about a free font and then to feel confused…and then disappointed. Why not just update the article?
Okay, I know, I’m being redundant. ;-)
Nice list – some ugly fonts, lots of nice ones. There is one free font that I am very eh, fond of, which is Ubuntu. It has a public license and is available in a lot of weights. And it’s drop dead gorgeous. it’s at font.ubuntu.com.
So wonderful selections. Great choice of fonts. “COLABORATE” is so good… and “CODE PRO” is not free…in this link..
Thanks a lot for sharing this great collection:-)
thanks for the great compilation.
code pro bold and code pro light is free. not code pro regular. so its partly free.
Thank you for making this compilation. Your effort is much appreciated.
Whoa! These are terrific. I was able to find most of these on http://pilo.me initially, but a few of these I have never seen before. Thank you so much!
Thank you for the nice selection!!
Even following the link provided in the comment above, there is no free version of St. Ryde. Please clarify?
nevermind ;)
A question please: What is that beautiful bold script font in the lead-in to this article on the previous page?
It has the word “Modes” in bold although I don’t think that is this font’s name.
Does anyone happen to know?
Thanks and appreciation
Nice collection – but for anybody who is not a designer and have to use fonts on his web site … this link to free open source fonts could be added:
http://www.google.com/webfonts#ChoosePlace:select
What you can do on this page is choose the font you prefer and with some clicks you can retrieve a CSS code to use on your web pages. Thus for example you can at least have nice looking headings. You just have to include correct font name in your CSS and reference Google website for fonts used with prepaired code as mentioned (for real source code example you can check the source code of website by clicking on my name).
Finally a collection of free fonts that are truly beautiful and useful :)
Thanks for sharing them. By the way the new Noupe design looks awesome!
Bookmarked! Def going to be using this!
when you say free font, do you mean that i can use them for professional and commercial use?
League Gothic the best!!! :D
Some of these are only free for personal use.
but thanks for the share
deja rip is non-free..
